Maintenance Enforcement Program
How do I get a court order for maintenance?A court order in Alberta may be obtained through either the Court of Queen's Bench or Provincial Court. It is recommended that you seek the assistance of a lawyer to obtain an order for child, spousal or partner support. For a referral to a lawyer in your area, you may wish to call the Lawyer Referral Service. Individuals experiencing financial difficulties may contact Legal Aid or the Family Law Information Centres for assistance. There are Family Law Information Centres operating in Edmonton, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Red Deer. Information packages on topics related to support and parenting time (custody and access) issues are available at all Alberta Court of Queen's Bench locations. Please see below for additional information.
